Vanuatu faces frequent climate disasters, displacing vulnerable populations. IOM works to strengthen resilience through disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs aligned with Sphere Standards and UN frameworks.
Role Overview
As a Programme Officer, you will:
- Coordinate disaster risk reduction (DRR) and emergency response activities.
- Develop funding proposals and monitor project implementation.
- Engage with government, UN agencies (OCHA), and NGOs.
- Integrate climate adaptation and gender-sensitive approaches.
Contract: 6 months (extendable), full-time with part-time/remote options.
Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu (hybrid work possible).

Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Implementation
- Lead DRR and crisis response activities in Vanuatu.
- Ensure compliance with international humanitarian standards.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
- Represent IOM in national/regional humanitarian forums.
- Strengthen partnerships with government and NGOs.
3. Reporting & Funding
- Draft donor reports, concept notes, and proposals.
- Identify new funding opportunities (e.g., climate grants).

Qualifications
Education
✅ Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, or related field + 2 years’ experience

Experience
✔ Humanitarian programming (DRR, climate adaptation, or WASH).
✔ UN/IOM systems (project monitoring, donor reporting).
✔ Pacific region context (preferred).
Skills
- Strong writing/analytical skills (proposals, reports).
- Camp Coordination (CCCM) knowledge.
- Bislama or French (advantageous).
Languages
