You will be responsible for managing grants from bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and philanthropic sources, ensuring seamless compliance and reporting.

🧩 Key Tasks & Responsibilities

📌 Resource Development

  • Lead all stages of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Information (RFIs)—from reviewing documents and aligning them with organizational goals to final proposal submission.
  • Conduct research and develop a pipeline of strategic funding opportunities that align with VisionFund and its microfinance institutions (MFIs).
  • Support proposal development teams across regions, establish timelines, and coordinate the production of high-quality funding applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to MFI staff on proposal writing, impact reporting, and project oversight.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key institutional donors, including multilaterals, bilaterals, corporates, and private foundations.

📣 External Engagement, Visibility & Technical Branding

  • Network actively with regional donors, development agencies, and technical partners to foster collaboration and visibility.
  • Represent VisionFund in sector-wide events, learning forums, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop communication materials that reflect VisionFund’s unique capabilities and past successes.
  • Ensure microfinance strategies are well understood by stakeholders within World Vision offices and partner organizations.

📊 Grant & Contract Project Management

  • Monitor and ensure donor compliance in technical and financial aspects throughout project life cycles.
  • Ensure that impact and financial reports meet the highest quality standards and are submitted on time.
  • Provide hands-on support for project evaluations, including mid-term reviews and final impact assessments.
  • Conduct capacity building sessions for MFI staff on award management, donor expectations, and compliance protocols.
  • Serve as a liaison to legal and finance departments to facilitate due diligence and risk management procedures.

📚 Knowledge Management & Strategic Learning

  • Contribute to a technical content library for proposals and project design across different sectors and funding priorities.
  • Lead documentation and dissemination of key learnings, success stories, and replicable models from grant-funded initiatives.
  • Help maintain and update organizational capacity statements, training materials, and technical handbooks.
  • Analyze industry trends and donor priorities to advise VisionFund’s leadership on strategy alignment and positioning.

📘 Qualifications

🎓 Education and Certification

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in International Development, International Relations, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or professional certifications in Grants Management or Accounting (e.g., PMD Pro, CPA, CGMA).

🧠 Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in resource development, grant writing, or institutional fundraising, preferably within development finance, microfinance, or the NGO sector.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex multi-stakeholder grants, including those from USAID, EU, UN agencies, DFID/FCDO, and development banks.
  • Strong background in project cycle management, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and evaluation.
  • Proven experience working in diverse cultural settings, with an understanding of Africa’s development challenges.
  • Exceptional writing skills, capable of translating program narratives into compelling, fundable proposals.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is highly desirable.
